What is a Marzipan Stollen actually?

Our wonderfully soft Marzipan-Almond Stollen is characterised by a number of special features that are not found in conventional Christmas Stollen. Firstly, it contains no sultanas - we know that not everyone likes dried grapes. So that you (or your guests) do not have to pick them out piece by piece, we have completely dispensed with this ingredient.

On the other hand - as the name actually says - the pastry is refined with the finest almonds. In contrast to the usual stollen, we increase the proportion many times over, so that an incomparable marzipan note can develop. Supported by the buttery taste, which is so typical for Christmas biscuits, the marzipan-almond stollen becomes a real treat for the festive table! 

Snacking allowed!

But there is another aspect in which this Christmas Stollen with marzipan differs from the original. It is best eaten immediately after baking. Since the marzipan already brings a lot of sweetness into the cake, we almost completely avoid using additional sugar. However, it is this sugar that otherwise makes the Stollen so durable, because it binds moisture.

If the natural preservative is missing, the yeast pastry is not as durable any more. Therefore we recommend that you consume it within 30 days. It is best stored dry and cool in the refrigerator at around 5°C to 8°C. But we know from our own experience that this fabulous pastry rarely survives for so long - after all, it is usually eaten up in the first few days.
